Early December I will be attending the Victorian Association for the Teaching of English (VATE) Annual State Conference.
I will be presenting a workshop titled: Teachers as writers in the ever-evolving landscape of Indi self-publishing.
This workshop will give delegates a snapshot of self-publishing and how teachers can turn their hand to becoming authors. Modern technology has opened up the world of publishing. There are obstacles, but writers have more choices and autonomy than when publishing was the exclusive domain of the traditional publisher. This presentation will give teachers and their students who want to publish options and the essential steps from an original idea to Ebook publication and marketing.
I will be attending workshops to learn more about changes to the VCE course for 2016. These changes will apply to year 11 student from 2016 and year 12 from 2017. For students who plan to purchase support material for year 11 2016 it is important to select material that addresses the new course where changes apply. If you are unsure consult your teacher or school. Unless private tutors are teachers who are registered with the Victorian Institute of Teachers (VIT) and attend professional development then it is likely they will be aware of the up-coming changes.
